A restuarant, A river, and A Rock {10 year anniversary Part 2}

Oh Oh Oh
You know our 10 year anniversary wouldn't be quite "Goodlin" style without something ungood happening.

The actual date of our anniversary was fine, but then we got to go on a date 2 days later,
thanks to 3 amazing people who helped watch our kids and fund our night out.

And as we sit in the car about to bask in the sun and enjoy 2 hours of bliss together Brett has the most forlorn sad look on his face.
Sad? are you kidding me, we get to GET-A-WAY!
There is no room for sadness!

But then he holds up his ring-less finger!
Yes, that's right his wedding ring-less finger on our 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!

You have got to be kidding me!
I just start laughing, because, well, that is really all I have left to do in life.

I mean, it would be one thing if this was the only time in the past 10 years Brett has held up a ring-less wedding finger.  (not to mention, what are the chances it happens on our anniversary, the 10 year one)  Oh no, it's not just the first time, it's the 3rd!   And not just misplaced, but GONE, LOST, EL FIN! Three Different times! I have purchased Brett 3 wedding rings, and the 3rd one was lost on our 10 year anniversary!

Wedding: Ceremony

Ring #1, was given to Brett on our wedding day.  Not so long after being married it was lost while Brett was working as a mixologist (fancy work for bar tender) at Red Robin.   We don't know how, there were lots of sinks, glass, water and other wet stuff, ring gone. It happens, right?

Ring # 2, was purchased immediately after the loss of Ring # 1.  A few years later, we are playing in the feather river.  Yep, one of those fun hikes down the flume to a water hole.  Brett lathers on sunscreen, takes the ring off so it doesn't slip off in the water.  Then comes back to put it back on, then goes back in the rapid water with greasy finger and wedding ring on.   And it's gone!  I just see Brett frantically combing the waters of the feather river as he knows this is the 2nd ring he has lost his wedding ring!

Ring # 3, was purchased a few weeks after said loss of Ring # 2.  Ring #3 has been the longest lived ring in our marriage as Brett  had it the whole 7 years we have lived in Colorado.
Combine the diet changes in our family with Norah's health, leading Brett to lose about 10 pounds and a hard day working in the yard with lots of rocks and you get the loss of Ring # 3.
So honestly, I will just blame the loss on diabetes.  It ruins everything.

Ring #4, roughly one month later has still not been purchased.  Call me a little crazy, I love my husband more than anyone, but I'm not super motivated or financially prepare to buy ring #4.

And at this rate, by our 50 year anniversary I will have purchased 20 rings, yikes!

I'm not saying I love him more or anything, but I have kept the same ring for 10 years, soooooooo just saying I probably do love him more.....
 J/K :O)

Brett has been pretty sad about the situation.  Although I laughed, I could tell how upset he was when he realized his ring was permanently gone, again.  The devastation was  all over his face and in his words, especially on that special day.  He is a little more eager to have a ring on his finger again, and

I don't blame him. I miss being 'officially" married too

Levi Paul {9 months}

Now that Levi is almost 10 months old, I figure, I better get in his 9 months old update!

Mr. Levi

I could really just hug and squish you ALL day!
You bring joy and smiles to my heart everyday
You love me even when I'm a terrible mother, you just love me
When people first meet your there first impression is, "oh my goodness he's so cute"  and well, I tend to agree.  Maybe they are just saying it because that it was people say to all babies, but I think you are so cute!
levi9month1

I mean honestly, who wouldn't want to just love this sweet face all day. You might just always get whatever you want  :O)

Baby food, that is basically completely out the window, you won't let me feed you a bite of it.  It's only real food for you.  And I'm good with that, it makes my life a lot easier, so thank you Levi.

You also flare your nostrils when trying new foods too, it must make them taste better

You love to explore my face with your index finger, you poke and prod and even stick it in my mouth (eww).  But I often see it coming for me  bending and pointing and attacking like a little weapon

You are getting up on all 4's and crawling, but you still prefer to slither around exploring the house, and yes still the toilet. Oh yes, we are in the "pull up on everything" phase.  Every time you pull up, you shake your little booty with excitement

You also like to shake your booty to music, as soon as you hear it you start moving to the rhythm.  I hope and pray that someday you will be my musically gifted child, we definitely lack that in our family and it would be fun to have that talent come out of our mathematical, symmetrical, stay in the lines genes.

You have all 4 top teeth coming in at once, which has made for some nap interruptions, but other than that you are still my happy guy

You got to meet GG!  Yep, my Grandma, my dads mom.  It was pretty special, you two bonded really well and I know you brightened her day.  And although you doesn't remember you, or even me now, I know you hold a special place in her heart.

You have some of the best facial expressions. This is one of my favorites. The "boston Face" telling us "fowget about it"

And I'm pretty sure you don't have a night night attachment, just a " brocolli head" one, because you love and squeeze this guy to death and cuddle with him every night levi9month3

Don't ever grow up Levi
I love you

10 years {Part 1: the fruit}

10 years {part 1: the fruit}
Wedding: Exit
That's how long Brett and I have been married!!

It feels like a milestone, well, because it is one!
Wedding: Ceremony

Brett continues to love me despite me.
In all my messed up moments
in my selfishness
In my silence
in my messy hair days ( a lot of them, 3652 to be exact)
in my mourning (a lot of that too)
He just loves me
life is complex, but his love for me is just simple

We didn't quite get the island vacation we hoped for, shocker, I know
I didn't get a new diamond for my ring
or a fresh clean shaved husband
in fact I got a ringless husband (say what?!?!? that is Part 2)

What I did get though was his heart.....in the best way

He wrote to me, 9 cards, all leading up to the day of our anniversary.
The first was titled "Love"
DSC_1068

I opened it and thought, "oh how sweet, Brett wrote me a note"
(not realizing this was leading up to or had anything to do with our anniversary)
The words that filled the page caught my breath and brought a flood of tears and emotion to my eyes.  You see words aren't necessarily my husbands strongest suite, so I knew it was from his heart.

And then, the next day I received a card that said "Joy"
and the next day "peace"
and the next "patience"

are you getting the idea? His cards were all titled and about The fruit of the Spirit which is:
Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfullness and Self Control.

In each card he wrote of how he saw these attributes in me..... in completely imperfect me.
And every time I read a new card I cried...because despite my sometimes awfulness he looked for the best.

You are all thinking "awww this is so sweet!"
And yes so very sweet it was, but it was so much more than that for me.

You see ever since we have had children this is what I have prayed over them every single night, "that they would be filled with the fruit of the Spirit:  love, joy, peace patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self control."  They all know it by heart, even little Sarah blurts out " CONTROL!" at the end of the prayer.

So when my husband, on his own (no pinterest idea or money spent) wrote to me and about me, specific things I have prayed over my children it was the best gift I have ever received,
and quite simply didn't deserve.

Eeekkk

Eeekkk! Sorry, I haven't meant to take such a long break from blogging, but life threw me a huge, "no breather" busy season with school ending for Maya, Norah's birthday, our 10 year wedding anniversary, haircuts, the pool opening, summer starting, subbing at work, another CPA exam (for the hubs), room re-arranging, Norah's glucose monitor, and a trip to Albuquerque!  Let's just add on top of that I am basically making all of my kids food from scratch so they can stay alive....  Blogging is my outlet, so basically I haven't had one in like a month! Yikes!

I will be back in a few days with some updates, but here are a few photos to give you a quick glimpse
