I am up on a snowy morning drinking a latte all by myself......ahhh this is nice. Sarah woke up at about 6:45am, and I am really not going to complain since she last ate at about 9:15pm, I will take 9.5 hours of straight sleep from a 3 month old any day! And now she is already down for her first nap and the house is quite, the girls are sleeping, my husband is even still sleeping since he has a delayed start at work from the snow. I did my hair, laundry, made muffins and now I still have time for blogging, I never get this much time!
The snowiness makes it feel even more like Christmas time and it has been fun having it around while continuing our advent, so here we go
Advent Day 18: Open a Gift From Jesus
I Got (er ummm Jesus Got) the girls this Melissa & Doug Nativity Scene from Amazon.com. I wanted the girls to have one they could play with and that I wouldn't worry about getting broken, but I also didn't want it to look cheesy and plastic, this was perfect and was only about $20.
This is how the girls designed their Nativity
Advent Day 19: Have a Candle Light Dinner
This has probably been one of my favorite advent activities, it was just fun setting up a fancy meal, the girls helped to set up, they got all dressed up and daddy even got a new position at Compassion the same day (we are just thrilled!) and the meal felt like a celebration for his achievement!
Getting set up for Dinner
Lighting the Candles
The reality of our life many days......
Despite the crying, we all enjoyed it and would love to do more candlelight dinners throughout the year, not just at Christmas.
Advent Day #20: Have a kids Christmas Party
It wasn't really a party, just a play date with some Christmassy things, the girls had lots of fun though!
Lattes
Crafts
Friends
Lynae is moving to Germany is just a few weeks, going to miss her so much! |
Kids (I only thought to get this photo after half of the kids already left sad.....)
And now my family is awake, better stop here!
I had a similar morning with our girls sleeping in, too. Isn't it the most relaxing feeling in the whole world? I love it! Glad to see you had part of the morning to yourself. Merry Christmas, Goodlins!
ReplyDeleteDaddy got a late start here too, so he shoveled our sidewalk while I sat inside in my robe with my tea. :-)
ReplyDeleteI really like how you guys do your Advent calendar, with a mix of activities and little items. I'm thinking we might have to do something similar next year when our little guy is older!
